On Friday 4th May, our Green Schools’ Committee, steered by Mrs Treanor, Miss Brady and Miss Deery organised a special assembly for the whole school.
First of all the committee members explained the latest steps we are taking to work towards the acquisition of our 3rd Green Flag, Water. These include: installing a water butt to collect rainwater for our flowers, measuring the amount of water that is used to flush our toilets and checking the taps and toilets for possible leaks. 5th classes, together with some of the senior committee members will be travelling to Oxford Island in June for a special conservation workshop.
Next, a group of girls sang a wonderful, original Green Schools Song which has been composed and written by our own Mrs Cunningham! This song has been entered into Monaghan County Council’s Environmental Song Competition. We wish them the best of luck with their entry!
