On Friday 7th October, we gathered together as a whole school for our first assembly and prayer service of the year. The theme of our prayer service this year was ‘New Beginnings’. This year’s opening prayer service was particularly special as it was the first time in 3 years where the whole school could all be together in the hall. Each class played an important role in our celebration of friendship, hope and unity.
The 2nd class girls presented a number of symbols to the altar which represented our gifts and talents in the school. They brought a book to represent our learning, a globe to represent the rich diversity within our school community, a football to represent the many hobbies and talents we enjoy, a folder of work to represent our learning journey as we take our first steps in our new classes and a candle to represent the light of friendship that brightens our days. 4th class planted daffodil bulbs as a symbol of our new beginning in this school year.
3rd, 4th and 5th class girls read beautiful readings and prayers. 6th class introduced our prayer service and ended it with a beautiful reflection. Our entrance hymn ‘Come let us gather ‘ was sung by the whole school and we ended our prayer service with the uplifting and joyous hymn ‘Go now in Peace’.
