1st February is St Brigid’s Day.
St Brigid is best known as being the founder of the first monastery in County Kildare, Ireland. Born in Dundalk in 450 AD, Her father was a pagan chieftain of Leinster and her mother was a Christian. She was inspired by St Patrick to spread the word of God around Ireland.
There are many stories surrounding St Brigid and what she did in her life. St Brigid’s Day is celebrated on the first day of spring. She is one of the Patron Saints of Ireland, along with St Patrick and St Columcille. Today, our whole school gathered together and were treated to a wonderful presentation of all things ‘St Brigid’ by Ms Myers’ class, in honour of this special saint. Watch below to see some highlights from our assembly.
